This is the entrance of Auschwitz the main death camp that the Nazi's used during the Holocaust. The trains with cattle cars filled with Jewish people would enter through here but not exit. It was an one way track. Millons of prisoners were brought here daily. Elie Wiesel, Holocaust survivor and author of Night was imprisoned here with his father. This was also where he last saw his mother and sisters. His father and him as well as hundreds of others were marched by the fire pits not long after their first selection. They were certain death was upon them as they witnessed babies being thrown into the flames alive and being used as target practice. But at the last minute they turned away and headed for another section of the camp.
